The following is a selection from 2016 output continuing experimentation to expand
and consolidate subject matter and technique.

Ember Attack, 2016
oil on canvas, 760 x l020mm
Burning embers spread fire on the wind. Their diminutive size belies their destructive potential;
their amorphous shapes call into question their status as subject matter.

The Basin, low tide, 2016, oil and acrylic on canvas, 610 x 760mm
A favourite place on the margins. The appearance of aerial roots forming a hatching effect, unifying subject and form.

Sapling forest, Bells Line of Road 2016, oil and acrylic on canvas 400mm x 450mm

Seeing past the guard rail and saplings to the sunlit valley beyond.
One part of the landscape is revealed whilst another is obstructed.

Untitled, 2016, oil and acrylic on canvas, 400 x 450mm

Gravity defying, colour intense and yet still recognisable, still available to engage within conventions.

Plasma, 2016, oil and acrylic on canvas, 760 x 1020 mm

In cosmology plasma is a molecular state between matter and energy. An effect of extreme gravitational compression
such as that present in black holes, it is a process resulting in a violent exchange of form.
